Who
He Is:
Wayne
Rowand is an active performer and educator in the Morgantown
WV area. Wayne has been
studying music for over 23 years and teaching for over
half of that. With a background in classical and jazz “It’s
pretty easy to become a musical chameleon” states
Rowand. “In any given day I teach such diverse styles
ranging from Hendrix influenced rock-blues, straight ahead
jazz and swing to war horses of the classical repertoire.
For me” Rowand says, “Classical guitar
gave me chops and an attention to detail and tone production.
Jazz/contemporary music gave me a practical real-world
approach to harmony and improvisation”
Guitars:
Andrew
White 8 string classical “ This
is my go to guitar. It gives me such an instant gratification
as soon as I pick it up. I’ve owned and played a
lot of top notch classical guitars over the years, and
Andrew’s guitars holds it own with and even surpasses
many of these guitars”
Andrew White 6 string/steel string Maple back and sides,
cedar top, small body “ I
bought this guitar for a national theatre tour I was doing. It has a very unique
sound that I was drawn to. The attack is very mid-rangey and pointed, almost
like a good arch-top, but the bloom of the note is wonderfully woody and round.
This guitar took a beating on that tour and still performed flawlessly night
after night. ( we went from Bismark ND to El Paso TX over the course of 4 days
in the middle of January….talk about brutal climate shifts!!)”
Fender HH American Strat 2005 “ I prefer acoustic instruments,
but sometimes I need to plug in. After owning about 10 electrics I finally
settled on this
Strat. Between the Humbuckers, 5 way switch and the S-1 switching this
guitars really does everything I need an electric to do.”
Amplification:
Late 60’s AKG condenser on the 8 string; L R Baggs
active element on the steel string. Both guitars are run to an AER Acousticube “ Fantastic
little amp….my guitars only louder” ; Wayne routes his Strat
from a POD XT live to an early seventies Acoustic GB-60.

The 8 string is strung with High tension D’addario
Pro-Arte composites with the extra basses being D’addario gauged nylon
